Using firewalls
Firewalls can interfere with communications between the Business Communications Manager and
another device. The port settings must be properly configured for VoIP communications to
function properly. Using the instructions provided with your firewall, ensure that communications
using the ports specified for VoIP are allowed.
An i2004 telephone uses ports between 51000 and 51200 to communicate with the Business
Communications Manager.
The Business Communications Manager by default uses ports 28000 to 28255 to transmit VoIP
packets. To modify these settings:
1 In Unified Manager, open Services, IP Telephony, Port Ranges.

2 Select the Port Range you want to modify.
3 From the Configure menu, select Modify PortRanges. The Modify PortRanges dialog
appears.
