Before you install Avaya MultiVantage™ Configuration Manager
(Configuration Manager), be sure that the computers you plan to
install it on meet the requirements listed in "System
Requirements" on page 15.
Configuration Manager requires a functioning LAN to operate. The
instructions in this section assume that your LAN is fully
operational and that all Configuration Manager computers can
ping each other.
To install Configuration Manager server software, you must have a
root login on the Red Hat Linux server. To install the Configuration
Manager client shortcut, you must have Windows Administrator
privileges.

If your company has a support agreement with Avaya, then you
need to install a modem on the Linux server. This enables Avaya
service personnel to remotely troubleshoot and correct problems. If
you ever need an Avaya service representative to perform remote
troubleshooting or maintenance, make sure that you have the
modem phone number on hand.
