component Components reside on nodes and provide specific functionality to the
network. Currently, Avaya MPS components include Open Signal
Computing and Analysis Resource (OSCAR), Message Transfer
Server (MTS), and Common Channel Signaling Server (CCSS 1000/
2000 or C7).
An MPS component enables phone lines to interact with
applications to process calls.
An OSCAR component provides external resource services such
as speech recognition and speech synthesis or Text-To-Speech
(TTS). It functions in conjunction with an MPS component,
which provides telephony services for call processing.
An MTS 2000 server provides a platform for centralized voice
message storage and retrieval across a network of MPS systems.
A CCSS 1000/2000, or C7, component enables the MPS to
connect with a Signaling System 7 (SS7) network.
Components are controlled by Startup and Recovery Process
(SRP).Only Avaya MPS and OSCAR components are supported in
PeriView’s latest release 6.0. To see a component in the PeriView
Launcher, APPMAN and Activity monitor, expand a tree object by
component with the Component Tree Control.
All components configured for the Avaya MPS network should be
defined in the $MPSHOME/common/etc/vpshosts file.
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS PeriView Reference
Manual.

concatenation Refers to joining end to end.
Applications dynamically concatenate independently recorded
vocabulary elements to produce natural sounding voice output. For
example, the Avaya MPS may speak four discrete elements for the
number 1205 (“one thousand” “two hundred” “and” “five”).
