If necessary, you can enter a subaddress for the main phone number. The

subaddress is useful when you have several routers at a destination site, but the

ISDN provider assigns only one phone number to the destination site. To reach a

specific router, an incoming call has to specify both the number and the

subaddress.

After a phone number is configured, you can specify a subaddress. Navigate to the

local-phone-number prompt and enter:

subaddress-extension

number

is a numeric string up to 25 characters.

For example, to set an extension for the local phone number 5553427, enter:

local-phone-number/2/1/5553427# subaddress-extension 897

If necessary, enter the SPID supplied by your ISDN provider when you ordered

service. Ignore this parameter if you have a 5ESS switch and the

line-type

parameter is set to

point-to-point.

To set the SPID, navigate to the local-phone-number prompt and enter:

spid <

string

is a numeric string up to

20 characters.

For example, to specify a SPID for the local phone number 5553427, enter:

local-phone-number/2/1/5553427# spid 1212

In addition to the local phone number, you can define the ISDN number type and

plan to indicate the standard that the phone number follows. The router passes this

information to the ISDN switch.

To specify the ISDN number type, navigate to the local-phone-number prompt

and enter:

isdn-number-type <

type

> isdn-number-plan <

plan

type

can be one of the following:

unknown specific

international subscriber

national abbreviated

1 2 ... 335 336 337 338 339 340 341 342 343 344 345 ... 551 552
