Modifying Conﬁgurations with New Link Modules

When you install a replacement link module or net module that is different from

the type you removed, you must edit the router’s conﬁguration ﬁle to reﬂect this

change.

This appendix describes how to edit a router’s conﬁguration ﬁle to include new

link module or net module information. It covers

• Copying the router’s conﬁguration ﬁle

• Transferring the conﬁguration ﬁle to a local directory

• Editing the conﬁguration ﬁle

• Transferring the edited conﬁguration ﬁle to the router

• Rebooting the router with the edited conﬁguration ﬁle

• Deleting the old conﬁguration ﬁle from the router

• Renaming the edited conﬁguration ﬁle to the default

Copying the Conﬁguration File

To work with a router’s conﬁguration ﬁle, you should ﬁrst create a copy of the ﬁle

to transfer to your workstation. To copy the ﬁle, follow these steps:

1. Connect to the router.

Select Options➔Router Connection from the main Site Manager window.

2. Enter the router’s IP address and click on OK.

Note: Only the ASN router uses net modules.
