When an application receives ertimeout, the application should explain to the
caller that the host is currently unavailable, or possibly refer the caller to a live
operator.
When an application receives data from the host, the system cancels all pending
message time-outs. However, it is possible to generate intertimeout or
ertimeout in the instant before the application receives the data. In this case, the
application can receive intertimeout or ertimeout after the application
receives the host data. The application must ignore intertimeout and
ertimeout after receiving data from the host.
