Hayes
Function: Specifies the signaling method that the router uses to interact with the modem.
Instructions: Choose one of the following:
Raise DTR -- A signaling method that enables access to the network by
preprogramming the destination phone numbers into the dial device. Raise DTR
signaling works with any of these interfaces: X.21, V.35, RS-232, and RS-422.
V.25bis -- A signaling method that enables access to the network by passing the
destination phone numbers from the router to the dial device. Using V.25bis, the
dial device can support dial connections to multiple destinations. V.25bis
signaling works with any of these interfaces: X.21, V.35, RS-232, and RS-422.
Hayes -- A signaling method that enables access to the network by passing the
destination phone numbers from the router to the dial device. Hayes signaling is
for asynchronous PPP and works with RS-422 and V.34 interfaces. To use
Hayes as the line media type, you must also specify a modem initialization
string. The router sends this string to the modem to initiate a call.
